700 youths attend youth exchange programme

Shillong, Oct 20: Around 700 youths from all the 12 districts of the state took part in the Meghalaya Youth Exchange Programme 2023 which concluded here on Friday.
The programme organised by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs commenced on October 16 and the closing ceremony was held at the Convocation Hall, NEHU Campus Mawkynroh, with Minister, Sports & Youth Affairs Shakliar Warjri as the chief guest.
Warjri expressed immense pleasure to witness the enthusiasm and potential of the youth in showcasing their remarkable talents through the programme.
He urged the participants to take advantage of the platform provided, to learn from each other in promoting and enriching their talents and also to be aware of different cultures of the tribes in the state.
The minister highlighted the various governmental initiatives that have been designed to promote and uplift the skills and talents of the youth of the state and to improve the quality of life in general.
During the week-long celebration various competitions like folk songs and folk dances competitions, guitar & flute competitions, debate and extempore speech, one-act play with the theme ‘Mission Life,’ Talent Hunt, and Adventure Activities were conducted.
Winners of the competitions were awarded with trophies and certificates.
