SHILLONG, Nov 1: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday issued a warning to individuals, regardless of their affiliation with certain organisations, against engaging in extortion.
According to him, police have begun making arrests based on people’s criminal activity and engagement in illicit collection.
He emphasised that regardless of one’s affiliation with a pressure organisation, religion, or area, the law applies to everyone equally.
He also declined to comment on the unlawful money collection from traders on behalf of pressure groups, stating that these organisations ought to clarify on the matter.
