SHILLONG, Nov 5: One of the bidders, Medulance, said on Sunday that it had won the contract to manage the health emergency services in Meghalaya, adding fuel to the already intense controversy surrounding the 108 ambulance service bidding process.
In contrast to Medulance’s assertion, Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh stated on Sunday that the bid was still in progress and urged all parties involved to desist from needless mudslinging.
“With 5G smart-connected ambulances, we aim to reduce response and real-time patient monitoring while being shifted to hospitals in the challenging landscape,” stated a statement from Medulance.
“Medulance’s goal is to deploy a fleet of 5G smart-connected ambulances and upgrading GPS-enabled ambulances to the state as soon as possible. This initiative will bring cutting-edge technology to the forefront of emergency response and improve the chances of saving lives in Meghalaya. Right now, we envision making Meghalaya the first state to have 5G smart emergency response,” Medulance Healthcare co-founder Pranav Bajaj said in a statement.
The statement said that having diligently served the region for the past three years, collaborating with Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and their employees, Medulance has cultivated a unique bond with the people of Meghalaya.
“We have EDNA Enterprise as our local partner, which has helped the government in crisis after GVK EMRI left and managed the maintenance and operations of ambulances, and is still continuing to do so,” the statement said.
According to the statement, Medulance has courageously bid for the 108 tender, intending to usher in a new era of emergency services in Meghalaya, realising the urgent need for a complete emergency management system in the state.
