Groups move Conrad seeking infra in GH

TURA, Nov 8: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) from South Garo Hills along with the All Khasi Hills Nokma Welfare Association (AKHNWA) has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma urging him to facilitate the construction of various roads besides other much needed facilities in Garo Hills.
In their memorandum submitted recently, the combined organization sought the blacktopping of the existing road from Jadigittim Main PWD Road via Era Aning to Agreng till Simsang Kansrusisuk Wari. Pointing out that the existing road is used by thousands of people from various villages including from some villages in Khasi Hills, they urged that the same road be connected till Rongding awe as well.
Other demands made in the memorandum with regard to road communication included the sanctioning for the construction of a bridge over the Kansruisuk Wari in south GaroHills, sanctioning for the construction of an approach road from Simsang Kansruisuk Wari to Rengdim Village and to expedite the construction of the road from Dainadubi in North Garo Hills to Dalu via Baghmara in South Garo Hills.
With regard to other infrastructure, the joint memorandum also sought the setting up of a Eco Sensitive Zone within 1 kilometre radius of the Balpakram National Park (BNP). The organizations also sought the beginning of full-fledged function at Siju C&RD Block in South Garo Hills.
