Jowai, Dec 1: Over 200 students from across West Jaintia Hills district took part in the three-day winter camp ‘Spectrum of Life’ under the theme ‘The future is yours’ which concluded at North East Adventist University, Khliehtyrchi, West Jaintia Hills on Friday.
The programme was organised by the office of the district planning officer in collaboration with different line departments and NGOs.
The programme started with the inaugural session where Jowai MLA, Wailad Shylla urged the youths to pursue their career with passion.
The highlight of the camp was the trek with a purpose from the university campus to Thadlaskein Lake where trekkers picked up trash littered along the way.
Many interesting programme were conducted during the camp; participants listened to stories about u Sajar Nangli and the story of the Thadlaskein Lake, engaged in zumba and yoga sessions, and many other sessions including social media ethics and how to counter cyber bullying. A presentation on climate change and global warming was also presented.
Prominent social media influencer “Chi iung” had an interactive session with the campers.
The students also had the opportunity to meet and interact with people who have made a name for themselves, which include, film maker Simi Kongthiang, Miss Meghalaya Irene Dkhar, Miss North East, Ehok Dkhar and international footballer Eugene Lyngdoh and others.
Winners of different competitions conducted during the camp were also awarded.
