Shillong, Dec 15: The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) and Smart Elements project at New Shillong Township will be completed by March 31, 2024, Deputy Chief Minister in charge of urban Affairs Department, Sniawbhalang Dhar said on Friday after visiting the project site.
He said that the project, estimated to cost Rs 212.82 crore, is around 75 per cent complete. The government has released Rs 139.12 core to the contractor M/S Nice Infotech, he stated.
Earlier this week, Dhar had inspected three more projects out of the 17 sanctioned under the Shillong Smart City Project, including retrofitting and upgradation of three multilevel parking lots in Shillong, construction of a commercial complex at Polo and redevelopment of the Laitumkhrah Municipal Market.
Dhar said around 70% of the work on the Polo commercial complex has been finished by the contractor Badri Rai and Company and the government has released an amount of Rs 52.63 crore out the sanctioned Rs 100.33 crore.
The Polo complex is targeted to be completed by June next year and will have 94 shops and a parking space for 100 vehicles.
However, the retrofitting and upgradation of the three multilevel parking lots is progressing at a slower pace with only 22% work completed so far.
An amount of Rs 6.27 crore out of the total project cost of Rs 46 crore has been released to the contractor — Avantika Contractor Limited, Dhar said.
The three parking lots will be able to provide space to 252 cars, 87 buses and 65 trucks. The project is targeted to be completed by March 31, 2025.
The Laitumkhrah Municipal Market redevelopment work is estimated to be completed by June next year. The contractors — a joint venture between Collinstar Sawkmie and Shrolenson Marbaniang — have been paid Rs 20.76 crore out of the total amount of Rs 38.20 crore, he said.
The Laitumkhrah market will consist of 183 shops and also provide parking space for 100 vehicles, he added.
