Viskit Sankalp Bharat Yatra held at Nongstoin market

NONGSTOIN, Dec 15: The Deputy Commissioners West Khasi Hills District, in conjunction with various government departments, today, successfully organised the Viskit Sankalp Bharat Yatra programme at the New Nongstoin Market Complex as part of the widespread Sankalp Viskit Bharat Yatra initiative.
The event was graced by S. Rashir, Headman, New Nongstoin, Village, who presided as the Chief Guest, along with the esteemed presence of T. Diengan, BDO Nongstoin C&RD Block, D. Jyrwa, Field Publicity Assistant, FOB, Nongstoin from the Ministry of Information, Government of India, and E. Nongtnger APO Nongstoin C&RD Block. The event also saw participation from various government officials, school students, ASHA, ANGANWADI workers, SHG representatives, and other esteemed members of the community.
The Sankalp Viksit Bharat Yatra embarked on its journey in West Khasi Hills District on November 28, 2023, with a noble mission to disseminate vital information about numerous governmental schemes and associated benefits therein.
Covering remote areas and villages within West Khasi Hills, the yatra has been instrumental in raising awareness about these initiatives. Today, the yatra reached Nongstoin Town, further intensifying its campaign to ensure that the populace is well-informed and can harness the benefits of these essential schemes.
The programme at the New Nongstoin Market Complex served as a pivotal platform to engage with the community, educate them about the available governmental schemes and empower them to reap the advantages as offered by those schemes.
With the collective efforts of the government and the active involvement of the community, the yatra has successfully continued its mission to extend the reach and impact of these schemes, ultimately working towards the welfare and progress of the people.
In addition, an Awareness Programme and Meri Kahani Meri Zubani, providing a platform for successful beneficiaries to share their inspiring stories were prominent components.
These stories from beneficiaries of various governmental schemes including NRLM, MGNERGS, the Health Department, MEPDCL, the Lead Bank, PM Ujwala Free Gas Connection, PHE SBM-U, PMAY -U, and ICDS, served as motivating testimonies of the impact and effectiveness of these schemes on the lives of the individuals and the community at large.
Other highlights of the programme include presentation of awards to outstanding citizens who have made noteworthy contributions in the fields of sports, healthcare, family welfare, education and beyond for their positive influence on society.
Aadhaar enrollment and free gas connections under the PM Ujwala scheme, and free health check-ups were made available to the citizens and thereby addressing immediate needs and ensuring that the community derived tangible benefits from the event.
