APS wins natl AWES debate competition

SHILLONG, Dec 17: Army Public School Shillong was declared the winner of the ‘National Level AWES English Debate Competition’ hosted by Army Public School Dhaula Kuan recently. The team, represented by Dhruv Sharma of XII (Science), Shaakshi Rai of XII (Commerce) and Subhodeep Dey of XI (Science), tackled the topic ‘The use of Artificial Intelligence – a threat to employment opportunities or a driver of economic growth’.
Being the ‘Command Level Champion’, APS Shillong represented Eastern Command at the national final. Under the guidance of the Principal, Rajeevan P, APS Shillong added several feathers on its cap as Dhruv Sharma was adjudged as the ‘Best Speaker against the Motion’ and Subhodeep Dey was determined the ‘Best Interjector’.
The championship involved a grueling competition among all the Army Public Schools of the country under different commands.
Six Command level winners participated for the trophy, experiencing an ideal platform to express their views and enhance their public speaking skills. The teams who represented five other commands were APS Jabalpur II (Central Command), APS Devlali (Southern Command), APS Akhnoor (Northern Command), APS Ratnuchak (Western Command) and APS Sri Ganganagar (South West Command).
