Tura, Dec 18: The AMMSU in Garo Hills on Monday alleged non-compliance of guidelines in recent appointments made to post offices against vacancies at various branch offices in the state and has dashed off a complaint to the Chief Postmaster General in Shillong.

The alleged irregular appointments as per the organization, were made for various vacant posts like Gramin Dak Sevaks, Branch Master, Assistant Branch Post Master and Dak Sevaks at various branch offices.

According to the organization, as per the advertisement put out by the department for the recruitment, it was made mandatory for candidates to reside within the post offices’ delivery jurisdiction, as well as to have studied local language (Khasi, Jaintia, Garo and MIL at least up to Secondary level) for appointment to the post of Assistant Branch Post Master/Dak Sevaks. However, these guidelines were allegedly not followed and candidates from outside the state were appointed to the posts.

Pointing out that the department had violated its own mandatory guidelines, the organization urged the official to look into the matter and conduct a fresh recruitment of eligible candidates at the earliest.
