Shillong, Dec 17: The KHADC delimitation committee is expected to visit a few localities in Shillong and its surrounding areas before preparing its report to be submitted to the council.
According to a source on Sunday, these few localities and their surrounding areas will probably only be visited in January. The source claimed that the committee has already held two hearings for the East Khasi Hills constituencies and the public reaction was mostly positive. The delimitation committee felt that a visit to these localities was necessary to gain a deeper comprehension of the ground reality and the sentiments of the people.
Meanwhile, another source stated that the delimitation committee will determine whether or not to visit Mawthadraishan and Mairang constituencies under Eastern West Khasi Hills District because there wasn’t much of a turnout for the November 24 public hearing.
