Meghalaya climbers set to scale new heights

Shillong, Dec 19: Meghalaya’s accomplished climbers, Dadapbiang Lyngdoh and Bhabok Nongkhlaw hailing from Upper Lumparing, are poised to showcase their climbing prowess at the highly anticipated 27th IMF National Climbing Championship scheduled in Bangalore from December 21 to 24, 2023.
Their selection follows an impressive performance at the recently concluded North East Zonal Sport Climbing Championship held at IHCAE, Chemchey, Sikkim, from December 8 to 10, 2023.
The duo will be joined by Wallambok Lyngdoh, providing essential support to the team, while Kayleigh Petra Nongkynrih assumes the role of Route Judge, officiating the competition.
Organized by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation and the General Thimmayya National Academy of Adventure, this championship will see the top three medalists from seniors, juniors, and sub-juniors categories representing the seven zones across the country—North Zone, West Zone, South Zone, East Zone, North East Zone, Services Zone, and Police Zone.Expressing gratitude, the Association acknowledges the unwavering support of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, which has consistently provided financial assistance. Special recognition is also extended to the Commandant of the 58 GTC, Happy Valley, for granting permission to utilize their climbing wall for the team’s rigorous preparation ahead of the National Championship.
As the Meghalaya climbers gear up for the prestigious competition, the nation eagerly anticipates a thrilling display of skill, resilience, and sportsmanship on the climbing stage in Bangalore.
As the Meghalaya climbers, Dadapbiang Lyngdoh and Bhabok Nongkhlaw, embark on their journey to the 27th IMF National Climbing Championship, the nation watches with bated breath for a spectacular display of talent and determination.
Their selection reflects not only individual excellence but also the rich climbing culture nurtured in the diverse landscapes of Meghalaya.
