Shillong Cricket League: SMCA, YALM CC win

Shillong, Jan 5: In a gripping clash in the Shillong Cricket League 3rd Division 2024, SMCA won the toss and opted to bowl first against Matador CC. The first innings saw Matador CC posting a total of 125/10 wickets in 20 overs. Antony Kharsyntiew led the charge with 43 runs in 38 balls, supported by Teikupar Nongkynrih with 34 runs in 27 balls. Naseer Ansari and Rehan Kharbuli proved to be formidable bowlers for SMCA, with Ansari taking 3 wickets, and Kharbuli contributing 3 wickets as well.
In response, SMCA showcased a strong batting performance, reaching 129/4 wickets in just 12.2 overs. Ravi Shankar Yadav shone with 43 runs in 25 balls, and Dilip Prasad added 32 runs in 22 balls. Matador CC’s bowling efforts were led by Om Chettri, who claimed 2 wickets, and Rector Lawim, who secured 1 wicket.
SMCA emerged victorious by 6 wickets, and the Player of the Match title went to Rehan Kharbuli, who not only took 3 wickets but also contributed 10 runs with the bat.
In another thrilling encounter, Young Star CC won the toss and elected to field first against YALM CC. YALM CC set a target of 147/9 wickets in 20 overs, featuring notable performances from Arun Tamang (34 runs in 21 balls) and Tanveer Sharma (27 runs in 23 balls). MD Wahid and Shadab Alam were instrumental bowlers for Young Star CC, both taking 2 wickets each.
Young Star CC fought hard in the second innings, scoring 146/10 wickets in 19.3 overs. In a nail-biting finish, YALM CC secured victory by just 1 run.
