Decision on Malngiang this week: UDP

Shillong, Jan 7: The UDP will meet this week to discuss disciplinary action to be taken against party MDC, Lambor Malngiang on his decision to extend his support to the NPP-led EC in the KHADC.
Parliamentary Party leader in the KHADC, Titosstarwell Chyne on Sunday informed that the party leadership will meet at the earliest to discuss the letter of party MDCs seeking disciplinary action against Malngiang.
‘UDP MDCs wanted the party to either expel or suspend Malngiang’.
Chyne further said that the action of the Nongkrem MDC is an ‘act of betrayal’ since he had contested the Assembly polls on a UDP ticket.
It is an indication that he wants to leave the party, alleged Chyne.
Earlier, UDP general secretary, Jemino Mawthoh had said that as the party general secretary, he had spoken to Malngiang to know his mind.
According to him, Malngiang insisted that he still very much part of the UDP.
Mawthoh further said that he has requested the Nongkrem MDC to issue a formal statement to the media to clarify his position on the matter.
To date, Malngiang has yet to issue any statement to clarify his position.
