SHILLONG, Jan 9: The Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) is expected to hold another round of meeting to discuss the campaign for its common candidate, Robertjune Kharjahrin.
Talking to The Shillong Times, RDA chairman Metbah Lyngdoh on Tuesday said the leaders of both UDP and HSPDP will again meet to discuss the roadmap for the campaign of their candidate.
Lyngdoh who is also the UDP president said that the party will officially launch the election campaign of Kharjahrin likely after the announcement of the election date. “We are confident that our common candidate will do well,” he said.
It may be noted that the common candidate will run under the UDP banner.
Endorsing Kharjahrin’s candidature, HSPDP president and RDA secretary, KP Pangniang, had stated that since each party had its distinct symbol, the two parties had decided on a common symbol. “But we are of the view that it will be better to select the symbol of the UDP since it will be a long process to get a common symbol. As the alliance we did not want to delay anymore since we want to start our campaign at the earliest,” Pangniang added.
