SHILLONG, Jan 27: The foundation stone for several PWD roads and several other projects under the General State Scheme 2022-23 was laid by South Shillong legislator, Sanbor Shullai. The amount sanctioned for these roads is about Rs 15 crores.
The projects include the widening, metaling, and blacktopping of a link road from Rilbong Community Hall to Umshyrpi Bridge, with a sanctioned amount of Rs 4,35,56,000. Additionally, feeder roads connecting different parts of the city have been sanctioned, including ones leading to Upper Lumparing and Madan Laban, with respective amounts of Rs 1,38,70,000 and Rs. 1,77,83,000 allocated for construction.
Furthermore, initiatives such as the construction of approach roads, drainage systems, and aqueducts are underway to improve infrastructure across various neighborhoods.
The initiative was taken up as a recommendation by the local legislator and was supported by the land-owners, the PWD department, and the MDA government.
