Shillong, Jan 28: Days after the state government decided to float a new tender to manage the ambulance services in the state, Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh is set to meet with the 108 emergency medical personnel to explain them of the latest development.
The state government is aiming to expedite the 108 ambulance services in the state’s tendering process, which had experienced a setback lately.
Lyngdoh conceded that there is restlessness among the 108 emergency medical personnel.
“We are working hard, I promise. When we are not comfortable with a tender, we shouldn’t be forced to execute it. The Department of Health is not at ease right now,” she stated.
She said that certain anomalies had been found and that there were claims and counterclaims among the rival bidders, adding that they had forwarded the tender documents to the Law department for advice.
She stated that since the Law Department only opens the technical bids, their recommendation was to re-tender even before the financial bid was opened.
It may be recalled that the 108 emergency health workers had voiced concerns regarding the history of disparaging remarks made against them by the three bidders chosen by the government to assume control of the 108 emergency ambulance services.
