Shillong, Jan 29: The Shillong Cricket League 3rd Division 2024 witnessed two gripping matches on Monday. In the first match, SMCA faced off against Turshaphrang CC.
Put in to bat first, SMCA managed to put up a competitive 165/10 in 20 overs. Ravishankar and Rehan Kharbuli were the top performers for SMCA with the bat scoring 55 (in 29 balls) and 54 (in 37 balls) respectively. Pynsuk Nongsiej was the pick of the bowlers with his spell of 4/25 in 4 overs. Shatpyrkhat also made a significant impact, bowling 4 overs, giving away 28 runs, and securing 3 crucial wickets.
Turshaphrang CC, in reply, scored 166/1 in 14.1 overs. Wanaibok top scored, smashing 85 runs in 48 balls, while Rudolf contributed with valuable 41 runs in 27 balls.
Hasan was the only bowler for SMCA to pick up a wicket. He ended with match figures of 1/20 in his 4 overs.
Turshaphrang CC emerged victorious by resounding 9 wickets, with Wanaibok named the Player of the Match for his smashing innings of 85.
In the second match, Lawsohtun took on Youngster CC.
Youngster elected to field after winning the toss and successfully restricted Lawsohtun to 118/6 wickets in 20 overs.
Larrykupar L Nonglait shone with the bat, scoring a patient 38 runs in 47 balls, while Errie Davis Rani was the second highest run getter for the team with 16 runs in 8 balls.
The bowling efforts of Ashish Alam and Md Wahid for Youngster CC were noteworthy, with Ashish Alam bowling 4 overs, giving away 15 runs, and taking 3 wickets, and Md Wahid bowling 4 overs, conceding 27 runs while securing 1 wicket.
In response, Youngster CC failed to chase down the target, scoring 96/10 wickets in 19.4 overs. Krishiv Choudhary played a pivotal role with the bat, scoring 26 runs in 35 balls, and Ashish Alam contributed 19 runs in 16 balls.
Peter Lyngkhoi and Cavin K Wanniang were instrumental in the bowling department for Lawsohtun, with Peter Lyngkhoi delivering 4 overs, giving away 18 runs and taking 3 wickets, and Cavin K Wanniang bowling 3 overs, conceding 8 runs while claiming 2 wickets.
Lawsohtun won the contest by 22 runs, and Peter Lyngkhoi was named the Player of the Match.
