ANTF arrests drug peddler in EJH

SHILLONG, March 6: The Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) arrested one suspected drug peddler from Lumshnong village in East Jaintia Hills on Tuesday and seized 77 grams of contraband items from his possession.
The arrested person has been identified as Ajamal Husen from Natanpur, Cachar district in Assam.
Acting on credible sources, the ANTF team intercepted the suspect at Lumshnong village while he was proceeding from Silchar, Assam towards Ladrymbai, East Jaintia Hills carrying illegal contraband.
The police informed that subsequently, a search was conducted and seven soap cases containing yellowish/orange colored powder suspected to be heroin were recovered. Preliminary test of the contraband item showed positive results for heroin.
The police also seized the vehicle in which the suspect was traveling, a mobile phone and two SIM cards, an Epic Card, a driver’s license, a PAN card, and an Aadhar card.
A case has been registered while investigation into the matter is on.
