EKH farmers receive insights on natural farming

SHILLONG, March 26: A total of 175 farmers from East Khasi Hills were on Tuesday provided insights on natural farming by experts during a workshop, which was organised by the KVK, Upper Shillong.
According to a statement, the programme was attended by Senior Scientist & Head, LV Khonglah (MAS), who, in his address, emphasised the importance of conservation of soil health, water bodies and the atmosphere for future generations, and the critical role played by natural farming towards achieving this goal.
Lectures were also provided on various natural farming practices for sustainable agriculture while the universal principle of natural farming, including the different modules, was also highlighted.
Further, focus was also laid on maximising productivity through suitable crop selection and sequence planning in natural farming. Different strategies for the expansion of crop cultivation area were also highlighted on the occasion.
