DGP inspects polling stations

SHILLONG, April 19: Director General of Police (DGP) LR Bishnoi along with Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Davis NR Marak visited various polling stations in both urban area of Shillong and its outskirts to ensure a free and peaceful election.
Speaking to reporters after inspecting the polling stations at Sankardev College, the DGP said that they are visiting various polling stations with the objective of identifying and subsequently resolving any problems faced by the police personnel or the civil staff deployed for election duty. “It is supervision on the security arrangement and also to interact with the people to understand if they have any issues related with security,” the DGP said.
Bishnoi added that they visited 3 to 4 polling stations and learnt that the electoral process was going on very smoothly.
Informing that the officials are satisfied and happy with the arrangement, the DGP said that no complaints were received so far (at the time of the inspection).
Informing that the security has been tightened throughout the state, Bishnoi said that adequate security has been deployed at all polling stations, including vulnerable and critical ones.
