18 Naxalites surrender in Chhattisgarh
DANTEWADA, April 24: As many as 18 Naxalites, including a militia platoon section commander and three women, surrendered on Wednesday in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada, a senior police officer said.Hidma Oyam (34) was working as the Hurrepal Panchayat Militia Platoon (HPMP) section commander the police said.The three women are identified as Sambati Oyam (23) who was working as a deputy commander of HPMP, Gangi Madkam (28), the vice president of Kakadi Panchayat Krantikari Mahila Adivasi Sangthan (KAMS) of the banned CPI (Maoist), and Hungi Oyam (20), a member of Hurrepal Panchayat.The 18 Naxals laid down arms in front of police and CRPF officials. They were part of Bhairamgarh, and Malanger area committees of the Maoists in south Bastar, according to the police. (PTI)

Street vendor killed in Gurugram
GURUGRAM, April 24: A street vendor died here after being stabbed allegedly by two persons during a scuffle in Gurugram’s Wazirabad area, the police said on Wednesday.The incident took place on Tuesday night. An argument had taken place between the 32-year-old deceased, identified as Arvind, and the accused-Aakash and Sumit, the police said.Arvind was a resident of Madhya Pradesh.On Tuesday night, an altercation broke out between the trio over a petty issue after which Aakash and Sumit, stabbed Arvind with a bottle, a senior police officer said.He said Arvind was rushed to a hospital in Gurugram where he succumbed to injuries.Based on the statements of the deceased’s wife, Aakash, and Sumit-both residents of Agra in Uttar Pradesh-were arrested on Wednesday, the police officer said. Man kills wife and daughter over family dispute
AKOLA, April 24: A 33-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly hacking to death his wife and nine-year-old daughter in Akola city of Maharashtra on Wednesday over a family dispute, police said.According to police, the accused Manish Mhatre attacked his wife Rashmi and daughter Mahi when they were asleep in the early hours, an official said.Rashmi Mhatre was living separately with her daughter in Nanded city due to frequent quarrels with her husband.“On Tuesday, she and Mahi came to Akola to attend her relative’s wedding. Manish fatally attacked them in the wee hours with an axe,” the official said, adding that the accused didn’t run away from the spot and waited for police. (PTI)

ETAWAH, April 24: BJP candidate from Etawah and sitting MP, Ram Shankar Katheria, has landed in an uncomfortable situation.His wife Mridula Katheria has also filed her nomination papers against her husband as an Independent candidate.Ram Shankar Katheria filed his nomination from Etawah Lok Sabha seat on Wednesday.It may be recalled that in 2019 also, Mridula Katheria had filed the nomination against her husband, but later withdrew her name.
