SHILLONG, May 23: In a sudden move, the state government on Thursday issued a notification adopting the CBSE syllabi and textbooks for Classes XI and XII in the Arts stream.
The new CBSE textbooks and syllabi will be adopted from the forthcoming 2024- 25 academic session, the notification said.
The subjects in the Arts stream include English Core, English Elective, Geography, History, Home Science, Computer Science, Informatics Practices, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology.
The notification stated that the other remaining subjects will follow the existing syllabi and textbooks recommended by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE).
Meanwhile, reacting to the notification, some teachers said they along with students are facing confusion due to the sudden order.
“There are many new subjects as per the notification and many schools do not have teachers to teach these new subjects,” the teachers said while asking the state government to review its decision.
