SHILLONG, May 29: The National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) has urged upon the NPP-led MDA Government to speed up the exercise to relocate the people residing at Harijan Colony.
While speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, NPYF working president Bajop Pyngrope said they had already impressed upon the state government that relocation should be done at the earliest to bring an end to the illegal activities in the area.
Pyngrope also lauded the state government for its decision to appoint Idashisha Nongrang as the DGP of Meghalaya.
He said that Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, who leads the Home department, had ensured that an IPS officer from Meghalaya was appointed as the DGP.
The NPYF working president also said that all the political parties, for the first time, are in unison over Nongrang’s appointment as the DGP.
While lauding the initiative of the DGP to open the door for people to directly communicate to her about their problems, Pyngrope said he expects that the state police will scale new heights under her able leadership.
