Saleng to resign as MLA today

Shillong, June 9: Newly elected Tura MP, Saleng A Sangma will resign as an MLA representing Gambegre constituency on Monday.
After emerging victorious in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Congress’ Sangma will have to give up his MLA seat to take over as the MP of Tura Parliamentary seat after defeating NPP’s Agatha Sangma.
The fourth time MLA will submit his resignation before Assembly Speaker, Thomas A Sangma.
It may be mentioned that the Tura Congress MP had first won on a Congress ticket in 2008.
After being denied a Congress ticket, he contested as an independent candidate in 2013.
In, 2018, he won the NCP ticket and again contested on a Congress ticket in 2023.
