30th inter-school & 12th inter-college karate tourney 2024 to kick off next month

Shillong, July 7: The All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association (AMKA) will host its annual karate championship for school children and college students from 22 to 24 August 2024.
The 30th Inter School and 12th Inter College Karate Tournament 2023 will be held at the Multipurpose Indoor Hall at the Sport Authority of India’s Shillong Training Centre on the NEHU campus, organised by AMKA with the support of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya. Several hundred karatekas from dozens of schools and colleges are expected to take part in the three-day event, an annual championship that showcases some of the best young karate talent in the state.
Karatekas demonstrate their ability in kumite (sparring) and kata (form) events and many martial artists have progressed from this tournament in years gone by to national and international competitions, winning medals for Meghalaya and the nation.
2023’s champions were St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School in the inter-school boys’ category, OM Roy Memorial Higher Secondary School in the inter-school girls’ category and St Anthony’s College in the college category.

As anticipation builds for the upcoming tournament, young karatekas across Meghalaya are preparing to compete and demonstrate their prowess.
