Activist alleges anomalies in JJM project in SGH village

TURA, July 9: Social activist from South Garo Hills, Greneth M Sangma, has alleged irregularities in the implementation of a JJM project at Rompa Asim village while, at the same time, urging the concerned department to look into the matter and take necessary action.
In a complaint with the Superintendent of Police, Greneth said the project in question had not been implemented as per the JJM guidelines and insufficient pipeline points were provide, thereby resulting in inadequate water supply to many households.
While the objective of the JJM is to provide clean drinking water to all, Greneth claimed the project has not been extended to every household in the village.
He said that though two signboards were erected to indicate two separate projects, only one had been implemented.
Greneth also informed that the villagers had alleged misappropriation of funds that were allocated for the project.
In this regard, he appealed to the SP to initiate a probe into the matter.
