Pakistan radical leader booked for issuing death threats to CJ
ISLAMABAD, July 29: An FIR was filed against a top leader of the radical Islamist group Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan and its 1,500 workers for issuing death threats to Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa. The FIR was registered against Pir Zaheerul Hasan Shah, the Deputy Amir of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP). The charges against Shah include sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), inciting religious hatred, causing public disorder, intimidating the judiciary, threatening the judiciary, interfering in official duties, and obstructing legal functions. According to the FIR, during a protest outside the Press Club, Shah incited hatred against the judiciary and announced a reward of PKR 10 million for anyone who brings the head of Justice Faez Isa. The FIR also includes charges against 1,500 TLP workers. (PTI)

Over 100 hurt as train derails in Russia
MOSCOW, July 29: Over 100 people were injured as a passenger train with 800 plus people on board derailed after colliding with a truck in Russia’s southern Volgograd region on Monday, officials said. However, no fatalities were reported. The 20-carriage train was en route from Kazan in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan to the resort city of Adler near Sochi when the incident occurred at around 12.30 p.m. local time, RT reported. Nine carriages derailed, Volgograd Region Governor Andrey Bocharov said in a statement. Some 813 passengers were on the train, he added. According to multiple media reports, at least 110 passengers sustained injuries and around 16 have been hospitalised. There have been no reports of any deaths. The truck driver survived but is reported to have sustained injuries to his head and legs. A criminal investigation into the incident has been launched, RT reported. (IANS)

Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro becomes Prez for third time
Caracas, July 29: Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE) announced on Monday that Nicolas Maduro has won the presidential election once again and will govern the country from 2025 to 2031. Notably, it will be Nicolas Maduro’s third time as Venezuela’s President. In total, Maduro received 5,150,092 valid votes, representing 51.2 per cent of the counted votes, according to CNE. Opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, from the Unitary Platform coalition, received 4,445,978 votes, or 44.2 per cent of the votes. (IANS)
