SHILLONG, Aug 11: The Mawlai units of three pressure groups – KSU, FKJGP and HNYF – will observe August 13 as “black flag day” to mark the third death anniversary of former HNLC general secretary, Cheristerfield Thangkhiew who was shot dead by police in an encounter at his residence in Kynton Massar locality in 2021.
KSU Mawlai Circle president Biangbor Paliar said they will observe the “black flag day” from 9 am on Monday to condemn the killing of the former HNLC general secretary.
He further informed that the three pressure groups will accompany the family members of late Thangkhiew to pay floral tributes at his graveyard in Lawmali at 2 pm.
Paliar said they will never forget the use of “excessive force” by the police and added that they will not allow the police officials responsible for killing the late HNLC general secretary to go scot-free.
Paliar also urged the residents of Mawlai and the members of the Bri Hynniewtrep to join hands on Monday and pay tribute to the departed leader.
