SHILLONG, Aug 22: In response to a weather warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on August 21, the Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Limited (MePGCL) has initiated the controlled release of water from the Umiam Stage I Reservoir. The release began at 11:40 pm on Wednesday.
This move follows the IMD’s forecast of significant rainfall over the next seven days. The water level in the reservoir was recorded at 3216.15 feet at the start of the release.
