Nongpoh, August 23: The Kick Boxing Association of Ri Bhoi District (KBARBD), which is affiliated with the Meghalaya Martial Arts Federation (MMAF), on Friday inaugurated the 10th District Level Ri Bhoi Kick Boxing Championship, 2024. The two-day event was held at Niangbari Lum, Ri Bhoi District.

The MDC of Nongpoh constituency, Balajied Rani inaugurated the event, in the presence of the President of MMAF, Thomas Rangthaluh, the Headman of Niangbari Lum, Elfast Shadap, and others.

The event saw the participation of more than 63 athletes including young men and women as well as children in the junior category. This platform will offer them an opportunity to showcase their talents and potentially be selected to compete at higher levels.

Thomas Rangthaluh in his speech expressed disappointment over the inadequate sports facilities and equipment, despite this being the tenth time the championship was being held in the District.

Given these shortcomings related to the sport, Thomas Rangthaluh appealed to the government authorities and the elected representatives to take action and provide necessary infrastructure and equipment for this sport to promote the young talents of the District and the state as a whole.
