Two orchestra dancers gang raped in UP
GORAKHPUR, (UP) Sep 11: Police have arrested eight men in connection with abduction and gang-rape of two orchestra dancers at gunpoint in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district. The accused perpetrators forced the victims into their vehicles and took them to a house where the crime was committed, police said.The victims were abducted at gunpoint from a house on Monday night. The perpetrators arrived in two SUVs and, amid continuous firing, took the girls to the house of one of the accused Ajit Singh where the alleged gang-rape was committed. The accused, identified as Nagendra Yadav, Ashwan Singh, Krish Tiwari , Arthak Singh, Ajit Singh and Dr Vivek Seth, were arrested on Monday night.Two other accused Nisar Ansari and Aditya Sahni were arrested after an encounter on Tuesday evening. Another accused Vivek Seth is a practicing doctor.A cache of weapons, including illegal firearms, ammunition, and vehicles, were recovered from the accused. (PTI)
German citizen held with cocaine, dies at Delhi hospital
NEW DELHI, Sep 11: A 77-year-old German national of Indian origin, who was arrested in connection with the alleged recovery of illegal contraband from the IGI airport, died during treatment at a Delhi hospital, police said on Wednesday.Ashok Kumar was arrested by the CBI from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, based on an input by the Interpol, on July 26. The CBI officials alleged that Kumar had concealed six kilograms of cocaine in 270 capsules hidden inside two soft toys.After five days of police custody, Kumar was sent to Tihar Jail.On August 14, he complained of uneasiness and was taken to the hospital, where he died during treatment on August 27.Delhi Police said they have approached the German embassy to know about the details of his family members to conduct the autopsy and further legal proceedings. Malaika Arora’s stepfather dies by suicide
MUMBAI, Sep 11: Actor-model Malaika Arora’s stepfather Anil Mehta allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a building in Mumbai on Wednesday morning, a police official said.Mehta allegedly jumped off the sixth floor of a building in Bandra area at around 9 am, the official said.A team of Bandra police rushed to the spot and shifted him to a hospital, where he was declared dead before arrival, he said.The exact reason behind the incident was not yet known, the official said, adding an investigation was underway.
