NONGPOH, Sep 19: In a road accident that occurred Thursday on the Guwahati-Shillong road near Khanapara, close to the Ganesh Temple, a truck (AS 01DD 7092), carrying four-wheeler parts and en route to Guwahati from Jorabat, overturned and collided with an oncoming vehicle in the opposite lane.
According to reports, the incident took place around 2 pm when the speeding truck lost control, overturned into the opposite lane of the highway, and crashed into an SUV bearing the registration number AS 01FZ 0030, which was traveling from Guwahati towards Sonapur.
It was also reported that the driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries in the incident and was taken to a hospital in Guwahati for treatment.
The accident caused a severe traffic jam on the lane leading from Guwahati to Shillong.
