BSF seizes buffalo horns, liquor along Indo-Bangladesh border
SHILLONG, Sep 20: In two separate operations, the BSF has foiled smuggling attempts along the Indo-Bangladesh border, seizing a large number of buffalo horns and liquor worth over Rs 13 lakh. “In a series of continuous operations aimed at curbing smuggling activities along the Indo-Bangladesh border, on 19th September 2024, a patrolling party of 193rd battalion of the Border Security Force apprehended an Indian national along with a vehicle loaded with a large number of buffalo horns concealed in bags,” the BSF said. In a follow-up operation on September 20, the same battalion seized liquor worth over Rs 13 lakh, which was intended for smuggling into Bangladesh. (ANI)

SHILLONG, Sep 21: The 119 Territorial Army (Infantry Battalion), in collaboration with the Regional Blood Centre at Pasteur Institute, on Saturday organised a blood donation camp at Kenches Trace, Shillong, as part of its platinum jubilee celebrations. The camp, which was aimed to support the local community and strengthen the blood supply at the Pasteur Institute’s Blood Bank, was participated by members of the Territorial Army, highlighting their commitment to community service. On the occasion, Commanding Officer of the 119 Territorial Army, Colonel Devashis Naik, expressed gratitude to the donors. “Every drop counts. Today’s donations will play a vital role in providing lifesaving blood to those in need,” he said. It may be mentioned that the collected blood will be processed and distributed to patients in local hospitals, enhancing healthcare services in the region.
