Two separate BSF ops lead to arrest, seizures

SHILLONG, Sep 24: Troops of BSF, on Monday, apprehended a Bangladeshi national near the Indo-Bangladesh border in South West Khasi Hills district.
Acting on specific intelligence, the 1st Battalion BSF conducted a special operation near BOP Kanai and apprehended a Bangladeshi national, identified as Tonik Hajong (38), a resident of Netrakona district, Bangladesh, who was in possession of Bangladeshi currency worth 2.37 lakh Taka, intended for illegal cross-border activities
In a separate operation, on the same day, 4th Battalion BSF seized cosmetic items valued Rs 15 lakh. A special patrol team confronted a group of 4-5 miscreants attempting to smuggle goods across the border. Upon being challenged, the miscreants left behind head loads containing cosmetic items and fled towards the jungle area.
The individual along with the seized items were handed over to local police for further legal action whereas the seized items containing cosmetic items were handed over to the customs office.
