From Our Correspondent

TURA, Sep 26: In celebration of the 155th Garo Hills Day, the ‘Re’naka App’, a local ride-hailing platform similar to Rapido, Uber and Ola, was launched on Tuesday by GHADC Deputy CEM Nikman Marak and Executive Member (EM) for Forests and Environment department of GHADC, Ashahel D Shira.
The project, which is part of the Viksit Bharat initiative, was taken up by Tura MDC Bernard N Marak and a team of young programmers and coders. “This app will be AI coded, which aims to create part-time jobs for the young people, creating synergy among the auto-rickshaw and two-wheeler operators and the customers at any location in the town with multiple AI-generated facilities and security options. It will be a GPS-driven app and all rides will be recorded and monitored officially. It will be at par with the Rapido, Ola and Uber apps, which helped our local developers and programmers to enhance the services,” the Tura MDC informed.
According to him, the service, scheduled to begin in early October, is currently registering two-wheeler and three-wheeler operators.
“The autorickshaw association of Tura and other units are collaborating with the team to bring in multiple online booking system of picking, dropping even delivering products to customers,” Bernard said.
“Male-female rider option will also be available as required. This will be convenient for any passenger who needs to be picked and dropped at any time in the town area. The service will also be introduced in rural areas, too. The students will benefit out of it as they can book from any place and those willing to earn an extra income can register and start a two-wheeler ride services through this app,” he added.
The BJP vice president added that more innovative projects are on the horizon, aimed at improving the standard of living of people in Garo Hills and creating further opportunities for youths as part of India’s endeavours toward becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
