SHILLONG: The Health Department has taken an audit of the infrastructures that were installed in different locations of Meghalaya during the COVID era.

Health Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the department has recently taken an audit of the assets and all of them continue to be utilized efficiently   and effectively.

informing that the Government is also planning to come up with a huge Hospital in Jengjal, she said that the oxygen plants which were installed in Civil Hospital and Ganesh Das are being used efficiently.

It may  be mentioned that  crores of rupees were spent during the COVID era to construct oxygen plants,  prefab infrastructure etc as the situation was grim in Meghalaya.

It was informed that the department is also requesting for some infrastructure constructed in Ganesh Das Hospital during COVID to be used for proposed medical college.

“ Some have been converted into a drugs store,” she said while informing  that the facility that was setup at Umsawli is now going to be converted into a skill lab  for training of manpower.

The department on Thursday held an interface with countries which wants manpower from Meghalaya, adding the facility at Umsawli will be used  for training of not only health professionals but even for manpower from the agriculture department.
