M’laya arm wrestlers to represent India at Asian International Cup

Shillong, Oct 15: The Meghalaya Arm Wrestling Association (MAWA) announced on Tuesday that 19 athletes from Meghalaya, including 9 competitors from the para category will be representing Team India at the prestigious Asian International Cup, which will take place in Mumbai from October 19 to 26, 2024.
“The selection of these athletes is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and resilience. They have demonstrated remarkable skill and sportsmanship, earning their place on the national team. Among the athletes selected are both seasoned competitors and rising stars, showcasing the depth of talent within the arm wrestling community in Meghalaya,” a statement issued by MAWA said.
In addition to the athletes, MAWA has appointed Aiboklang Paul Wanniang as the team captain, supported by Margaret Pathaw as co-captain.
“Their leadership will be instrumental in guiding the team throughout the competition. We are also pleased to announce that Terence Jones Lyngskor and Sumita Kshiar have been designated as the official representatives for the team. Their experience and expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring the athletes are well-prepared for the challenges ahead,” the statement further added.
The team is scheduled to depart for Mumbai on October 18
