TURA, Oct 24: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who accompanied his wife and NPP candidate, Mehtab Chandee A Sangma to the nomination centre on Thursday afternoon, stated that all elections were tough and the party would have to work extremely hard to win the Gambegre seat.
Sangma, while interacting with media persons, felt that every election was important and nothing could be taken for granted.
“Every other candidate is an opponent so we have to make sure as a party and candidate we have to work hard. We are hopeful of victory as we are getting a very positive response from the people of the area,” said Conrad on his wife’s prospect.
“Overall Gambegre requires a lot of attention and we are hopeful that people will make the right choice of being with the ruling government as there are obvious benefits to that,” he added.
When pointed out that TMC leader Mukul Sangma had questioned the CM’s statement of benefits for supporting the ruling party, Conrad asserted that everyone had the right to express their views in politics.
“Historically it has been seen that being with the government always is an advantage as the approach to development gets easier. Being in the opposition, this becomes harder as communication becomes a problem,” the CM asserted.
