Bursting crackers leads to group clash, stone pelting
INDORE, Nov 1: An argument over children bursting crackers in Diwali escalated into a clash between two groups in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore city on Friday, resulting in injuries to four persons and prompting police to hold a flag march to restore order.The incident took place in Chhatripura. ”Some people had an argument over children bursting crackers. This was fanned by an old rivalry between neighbours. It soon led to stone pelting between two groups, resulting in minor injuries to four persons. Some vehicles were also damaged in the stone pelting,” an official said.“A flag march was carried out in the area, where the situation now is completely under control. People must ignore rumours and maintain peace. There is sizable police presence in Chhatripura area. We are checking CCTV footage to identify those who disturbed law and order,” headded.The area has residents from Hindu and Muslim communities. (PTI)
2 TMC MLAs targeted by miscreants in Bengal
KOLKATA Nov 1: Two ruling Trinamool Congress MLAs were targeted by miscreants in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, police said on Friday.TMC MLA Usha Rani Mondal from Minakha sustained minor injuries when she was allegedly mobbed by 100 to 150 people in Haroa area on Thursday night while returning from a Kali Puja pandal, police said.Mondal told police that she was forced out of her vehicle and assaulted, with several gunshots fired during the incident.“I was forced to come out of my vehicle and assaulted. Several rounds of bullets were fired,” she said.She claimed the attack was orchestrated by a leader who was suspended from the party for illegal activities ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.In another incident, TMC MLA Sukumar Mahata from Sandeshkhali was attacked while returning from a Kali Puja event in Nazat.He claimed that miscreants assaulted and injured some of his party members, one of whom had to be hospitalised.He alleged that a rival faction, sidelined for illegal activities, was responsible for the attack. Militants shoot at two UP natives in J&K
SRINAGAR, Nov 1: Two persons from Uttar Pradesh were shot at by militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday evening, officials said.Sufiyan and Usman were injured after being shot at in the Mazhama area of Magam in the central Kashmir district, they said.They were taken to a hospital and were stated to be in stable condition, the officials added.
