SHILLONG, Nov 12: The upcoming Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival, set to begin in a few days, will feature mixed martial arts (MMA) cage fighting for the first time.
Isaiah Kharmawphlang, a founding member of the Happy Red Rooster MMA Institute, encouraged citizens, especially children, to witness the world’s fastest-growing sport firsthand. He urged young people to consider taking up MMA, emphasising its benefits in keeping youth away from negative influences, such as substance abuse.
The event will showcase fighters from various Indian states, with international participants from Afghanistan and Russia also joining the competition.
