SHILLONG, Nov 17: A free eye check-up camp from November 13 to 16 benefitted 1,011 schoolchildren aged 7 to 18 in Mawsynram village. The camp was organised by Banshai Marbaniang in collaboration with Vision Spring Foundation (VSF) from New Delhi and World Vision International, UK.
The program covered all government schools in the area, including Rev. JJM Nichol’s Roy LP and UP School, Seng Khasi LP and UP School, St. Francis Xavier School, and two residential schools — Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Mawsynram and Mawphlang.
A team of doctors and nurses from Delhi, Rajasthan, and Assam conducted thorough eye examinations, identifying several cases of eye infections and vision issues.
Children in need were provided immediate treatments including distribution of prescription glasses.
Marbaniang extended his gratitude to school authorities and the PWD (Roads) for their cooperation, ensuring the programme’s success despite upcoming examinations.
