Inter-Academy cricket tourney 2024 begins

Shillong, Dec 2: The much-anticipated Inter-Academy Boys U14 and Girls U19 Cricket Tournament 2024 kicked off on Saturday at the Don Bosco Mini Stadium, SAHS.
Organised by the SYM and St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School in collaboration with the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA), the tournament aims to provide a platform for grassroots-level talent. The tournament features six boys’ teams and two girls’ teams from academies such as the Shillong Cricket Academy, St. Anthony’s Cricket Academy, Nongthymmai Cricket Coaching Centre, and the Eastern West Khasi Hills Cricket Association Academy, Mairang.
In the boys’ match on the opening day, St. Anthony’s Academy defeated Nongthymmai Cricket Coaching Centre (NCCC) by five wickets. NCCC batted first, scoring 89 runs in 12 overs. St. Anthony’s chased down the target in the 14th over, finishing at 90/5.
Additionally, the highlight of the day was a scintillating century by Gautam of Shillong Cricket Academy, who smashed 103 runs in a dominant display.The girls’ match between Shillong Cricket Academy and St. Anthony’s Academy was abandoned midway due to rain. St. Anthony’s had set a challenging target of 116 in 10 overs, powered by Dawanshisha’s fine 52 and Isha’s retired-hurt 16. SCA was at 22/1 after four overs when play was stopped.The finals will be held on monday.
