Bike theft bid foiled, two held
On December 11 morning, residents of Lawjynriew Nongthymmai, Shillong, caught red-handed two persons — Roshan Singh (21) and Arminder Singh (20) —while they were reportedly attempting to steal a motorcycle, and handed them over to police.

Two-wheelers stolen
Manshailang Surong lodged a complaint that on December 10, around 11.30 pm, miscreant(s) stole his scooter (ML-05Z-8190) from Polo, Shillong.
Aynul Haque Talukdar (31) lodged a complaint that on December 5, miscreant(s) stole his motorcycle (ML-05Z-9312) from Nongjri village in South West Khasi Hills.

One injured in attack
On December 11, around 9 pm, an unidentified miscreant attacked one Franrestar Khongsit with a sharp object at Police Bazar, Shillong. As a result, the victim sustained grievous injuries and was admitted at Civil Hospital, Shillong.

Heroin seized
On December 9, around 10 pm, police intercepted a vehicle (ML-05Y-2945) along with one occupant viz., Darbalpuia Darlong (56) at Umiam, NH-6 (Ri-Bhoi), and recovered five soap boxes containing 55.49 grams of suspected heroin.

Property damaged by fire
Arpit Agarwala lodged a complaint that on December 11, around 2 am, fire fell on the tin roof of his business establishment — ‘Hotel Café’ — from the adjacent building at Police Bazar, Shillong, and damaged his CCTV cables and tarpaulin, etc. However, no casualty was reported. The complainant stated that such incidents (3 or 4 times) also occurred in the past, due to which he even requested the owner of the building to look into the matter. However, the owner of the aforesaid building allegedly did not pay heed to his request.

Cattle theft
Proterwell Kharbani lodged a complaint that on December 10, around 12.30 am, miscreant(s) stole one head of cattle from his cowshed at Shyrwang village in Eastern West Khasi Hills.

Four held for stealing batteries
Liu Chiang Ch Marak lodged a complaint that on December 11 circa 11.40 am, three persons — Sukur Ali (18), Sakirul Islam (21) and Akirul Islam (19) — were apprehended while they were stealing batteries from the mobile tower at Chengkompara, Ampati, South West Garo Hills district. However, one of their associates managed to escape.
