Shillong, Jan 6: The Meghalaya BJP on Monday announced the names of the 60 newly- appointed mandal presidents in a move to strengthen the party based across all 60 constituencies in the State.
State Vice President Khrawboklang Basaiawmoit felicitated the newly-appointed Mandal Presidents at the felicitation function held at the party office. Basaiawmoit had also read out the names of the newly appointed Mandal presidents.
This announcement follows the success of a membership drive launched on October 2, which attracted 60,000 new members in just two months.
Meanwhile, the State Vice President said that the party is planning to contest the upcoming polls to the KHADC and JHADC.
Informing that they have invited applications from the potential candidates, Basaiawmoit informed that the aspirants for the party ticket should submit their applications by Monday.
“We are not planning to contest from all the seats. We will contest only in few selected constituencies,” he said.
Meanwhile, State General Secretary Wankitbok Pohshna highlighted that the initiative is aimed at reinforcing the party’s organizational framework.
