SHILLONG, Jan 19: Mawkyrwat-based band, Air Raid Sirens, emerged victorious at the Metal Battle Northeast Prelims, securing their place in the India Subcontinent round of the competition, set to take place in Bangalore on February 6.
The event, held as part of the first-ever Shillong Open Air at the State Central Library premises, witnessed a historic gathering of metal enthusiasts, with hundreds of fans from across the region in attendance.
The ultimate winner of the India Subcontinent round will earn the opportunity to perform on the international stage at Wacken Open Air in Germany, one of the world’s most prestigious metal festivals, later this summer.
Beyond the competition, the night saw powerful performances from top metal bands across India, including Eternal Scorn and Adremelech from Shillong, Speedtrip from Bangalore and Godless from Hyderabad. Their high-energy sets left the crowd in awe, making the night unforgettable.
It may be mentioned that the event was organised by the Meghalaya Tourism Youth Development Society in collaboration with T7 News, and powered by Bangalore Open Air and Aggressive Tendencies.
