WJH, SGH confirm medals

Shillong, Jan 20: The Kiang Nangbah Football Stadium witnessed three electrifying football matches in the Women’s Senior category of Round 3 at the 6th Meghalaya Games 2025 on Monday.
The first match saw West Jaintia Hills secure a convincing 3-0 win against South West Garo Hills, setting the tone for the day’s exciting matches. North Garo Hills edged past Eastern West Khasi Hills with a 2-1 scoreline in another keenly contested match. Ri-Bhoi rounded off the day’s action with a narrow 1-0 victory over East Jaintia Hills.

WJH & SGH confirm podium finish in TT

Day One of Table Tennis witnessed interesting matches across various categories. In the semi-final match of women’s doubles category, West Jaintia Hills dominated West Khasi Hills to reach the final and confirm themselves, a medal. In the second semi-final, South Garo Hills won 3-1 against West Jaintia Hills. They will be competing against another team from WJH for the gold medal.

EKH dominates Softball

Jrisalein Playground at Chutwakhu witnessed nine interesting Softball matches in both Men and Women Category.
In the Women’s category, East Khasi Hills dominated the day defeating Ri-Bhoi 9-0 and East Jaintia Hills by three runs (7-4), whereas the Men’s category witnessed East Jaintia Hills defeat West Jaintia Hills by seven runs.
Also in the Men’s section, East Khasi Hills won their only match versus West Khasi Hills.
In the final match of the day, Men’s team from Ri-Bhoi defeated West Jaintia Hills by one run, leading to a nail-biting final score of 5-4.

EKH dominates pot Climbing

In Spot Climbing, under 16 Girls category, the first three athletes who climbed at the top were Dadapbiang Lyngdoh (EKH), Aijingsuk Lyngdoh (EKH) and Idaseisoh Tongper (WJH). On the one hand where EKH’s Dadapbiang Lyngdoh completed at 2:44 minutes, on the other, the gap between Lyngdoh and Tongper was of mere seven seconds, with them climbing to the top at 4:12 minutes and 4:19 minutes, respectively. A total of ten climbers went up to the final round.
On the other hand, in under-16 Boy’s category, Bhabok Nongkhlaw (EKH) topped the chart. Givensamson Lyngdoh of SWKH finished in second place, and the third place was bagged by Ayush Ch Momin of East Garo Hills. A total of thirteen players of this category will compete in the final round.

Boxing kicks off

In Boxing, men’s category of 54 kg, Prashan Dorjee EKH won against Meshwa Ripnar of EWKH in the pre-quarter round. East Khasi Hills dominated the weight category followed by Ri-Bhoi and Eastern West Khasi Hills. In the pre-quarter rounds of women’s category (48kg), five athletes from EKH, Ri-Bhoi and EWKH advanced to the subsequent round.

Kho-Kho commences

The Lad Mukhla playground witnessed the first Kho-Kho matches of the sporting extravaganza. In women’s category, WKH won against EKH with a score of 20-3. In another match belonging to the men’s category, SWKH registered a dominating win against North Garo Hills with a score of 19-2.
