DREAM Director leads state team to Kerala for exposure visit

SHILLONG, Jan 27: In a bid to enhance strategies for combating substance abuse and improving rehabilitation efforts, the Mission Director of the Drug Reduction Elimination & Action Mission (DREAM) under the Social Welfare department is leading an 11-member delegation to Kerala on a three-day exposure visit, which seeks to gain valuable insights into Kerala’s advanced rehabilitation methodologies, successful awareness campaigns, and collaborative police strategies in addressing substance abuse.
The delegation includes a diverse group of experienced professionals, such as rehabilitation experts, senior health officials, including the Joint Director of Health Services (MI), a psychiatrist, and a senior medical and health officer trained in substance use disorders.
During the visit, the delegation will participate in interactive sessions with various stakeholders and experts from renowned rehabilitation centers. They will also visit leading hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and community-based programs to observe their approaches and methodologies firsthand.
The Mission Director highlighted that this initiative reflects DREAM’s dedication to learning and adopting best practices from across the country to tackle substance abuse.
