Shillong, it’s time for a jumpstart

Didn’t January take its own sweet time to go by? If you feel so too, do you wonder why does January feel like the longest month?
This is likely due to the transition from holidays back to work or school routine. This can make one feel like time is passing slower than usual. Besides this, factors such as the winter weather, shorter day hours and the thoughts about the holiday expenditure and subsequent financial planning can add to the perception of a lengthier January.
Social media is in a flurry over January’s supposedly stretched length, with some even terming it the ‘Monday of Months’. We are now in February and this trend, like any other, is likely to wear off soon.
Shillong’s weather is also settling in. City temperatures are not ruthlessly cold; there is a hint of warmth creeping in with the breeze, that of course lasts only until evening. In the past few days, citizens have been treated to cloudy, moderately foggy skies as well as light drizzle. The weather too has become elusive in Shillong, leaving predictions of the “know-it-alls” to their wits’ end.
Now schools are due to reopen and the entire city, from its students to the working class, is looking forward to jumpstart their lives. Soon, the frustrated cries of “when will this month end?” will turn to “time flies” as we see 2025 through as well. And hopefully, it goes swimmingly for all.
