TURA, Feb 12: The ADIL from Gasuapara in South Garo Hills has raised the issue of the deplorable condition of the Rongchong PHC under Chokpot in the same district, which, according to it, has remained non-functional for 17 years.
According to the organization, the centre which is located 18 kilometres away from Gasuapara has remained non-functional since it was completed in 2008 and the same has been causing grave inconveniences to the people from the area. The organization added that the staff of the PHC is currently operating from a local VEC hall, which in turn, has affected the services provided by them.
Informing that repeated appeals to authorities as well as public representatives have fallen on deaf ears so far, the organisation urged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh as well as the South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner to look into the matter and ensure that the PHC is restored to its functional state.
