Mother’s body exhumed after daughter’s plaint
Alappuzha, Feb 12: Four days after VC Saji passed away after almost a month’s treatment at Medical College Hospital, her body was exhumed on Wednesday following a complaint by her daughter against her father. Saji (48) has been under treatment at the hospital since January 8th, when her husband and daughter brought her following an injury. At that time, they told hospital authorities that she had fallen from the staircase and suffered a head injury. However, following treatment, her health condition worsened and was put on the ventilator following which she passed away on February 9. After the funeral, Sony (Saji’s husband) had a verbal duel with his daughter. Following the verbal duel, she approached the police and lodged a complaint against her father. Following the complaint, the police took Sony into custody and is being questioned. On Wednesday after the body was exhumed, the mortal remains were taken to the Alappuzha Medical College hospital where the autopsy will be conducted. (IANS)
Gujarat police deports 15 Bangladeshis
Ahmedabad, Feb 12: Fifteen Bangladeshi nationals, who had entered India illegally, have been deported, Gujarat Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, said on Wednesday. Preliminary reports indicate that the Ahmedabad Crime Branch took action against individuals, who were allegedly involved in trafficking minor girls into prostitution. These illegal immigrants were residing in Ahmedabad using forged documents, the reports said. Fifteen Bangladeshi migrants have been deported, and authorities have dismantled a human trafficking network forcing minor girls into prostitution. Additionally, police have uncovered a fake document racket that provided forged Indian identity papers to illegal immigrants. According to officials, police have also apprehended 50 more illegal migrants. While 15 deportees and one minor child have already been sent back to Bangladesh, legal procedures are underway for the repatriation of the remaining migrants. (IANS)
Cops hunt for Maulvi over hate speech
Bengaluru, Feb 12: Karnataka Police on Wednesday launched a hunt for an Islamic religious teacher who delivered hate speech provoking the mob to attack a police station in Mysuru city over an objectionable social media post. As per sources, the accused Maulvi has been identified as Mufti Mustaq Maqbooli and the social media post was over the defeat of the AAP in the Delhi Assembly election. The police have got Maqbooli’s video clip, which has gone viral and is seen making highly provoking statements, including taking extreme violence. The police have tracked the identities of 50 to 60 people who took to violence, including stone pelting. The police said all of them would be detained for questioning and legal procedures would be initiated soon. The accused were identified with the help of CCTV footage. Police sources stated that the majority of the people who indulged in stone pelting were locals. (IANS)
